About Emily's screen prints
Artist's statement
The coloured terraces of Bristol softened the blow of leaving the beach huts of Brighton behind me in 1995. As a result, Bristol's varied buildings seemed to be the obvious choice when I started to explore screen printing.
My screen prints are strongly influenced by process - areas of colour are mono-printed so that in each edition, no two prints are exactly alike, the colours blend as the print run progresses. I love the fact that screen printing provides me with the choice to represent the house colours as they are, or to repaint whole swathes of Bristol simply by remixing my inks.
The Bristol AtoZ is filled with prints waiting to happen...
